Established in 1989 by RI state legislation and celebrating our 30th year of service, the East Bay Educational Collaborative (EBEC) is a 501(C) 3 non-profit Educational Service Agency. As provided by statute, EBEC is governed by a Board of Directors who also serve as the Superintendents of the Easy Bay School Districts. From its inception with National Science Foundation Grant support, EBEC is funded through grants, contracts, and fees for services provided. EBEC receives contracts, such as from the Office of Naval Research, to support our highly innovative Science programs.
Located at 317 Market Street in Warren, RI, our 40,000 square foot facility houses a Career Academy, a Science Materials Resource Center as well as a professional development center. The focus of our work is in the Content area of Science and the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) for grades PreK-12 including Special Education and English Language Learners. EBEC offers professional development experiences in content writing, facilitation and implementation of numerous science curricula which can be designed to fit individual district needs. With the adoption of any science program, EBEC offers free on-site professional development by highly trained and certified instructors. Over 700 professionals were trained in the 2017-18 school year. On-site Instructional Coaching, Family Science Nights, and school site Professional Development are offered. These opportunities include presentations on assessment, outcomes, and student achievement. Evaluation and feedback is a component of every workshop. On-line assessment packages are also provided free of charge for participating districts.
