Providence Public Library (PPL) engages learners, inspires thinkers and connects diverse communities. Our library serves as a statewide open and collaborative center of teaching and learning where communities connect, experience, create, and achieve. As a 501c3 nonprofit organization governed by a Board of Directors and chartered to serve as the free public library for RI, PPL has the flexibility to respond to community needs rapidly and effectively. PPL stands apart as an innovator and award-winning changemaker in both the library and education fields.

PPL’s focus area is to provide basic to advanced technology professional learning services for school personnel. Currently funded by RIDE as the RI Tech Hub to provide technology professional development for adult education organizations across the state, PPL has deep experience in providing digital literacy, software coding and data analytics and visualization instruction to teens and adults including incumbent workers. We offer both services to increase the technology skills and knowledge of school personnel and training for school personnel to teach technology skills to their students. In 2017-8, PPL provided over 2,000 people with technology instruction.
