RILINK, an organization under the umbrella of the East Bay Educational Cooperative, is a cooperative effort by Rhode Island school libraries to share their resources through an interactive, web-based Follett/Destiny catalog of library materials. Students and teachers at RILINK member schools can use their library catalogs to look for and request books or other items at member libraries. Items requested are delivered to each school through the statewide library network. Currently, over 200 school libraries working together form RILINK, sharing their books, audiovisual materials, and expertise to provide better service to their 110,000 students and teachers. RILINK currently serves over 70% of Rhode Island K12 students.
In addition to Destiny Library Manager and Collections by Destiny, RILINK provides its member schools* access to CultureGrams, Exploring Nature, LibGuides CMS, and LibWizard. Staff members provide support for these platforms on a daily basis via phone and email. Another member benefit is onsite and/or virtual professional development opportunities for librarians and their schools. Sessions are developed in collaboration with the school librarian as well as administrators and staff when applicable The primary focus for professional learning sessions is Technology. Other areas may be addressed based on the audience and collaborators from a district. Each summer RILINK offers a conference aimed at the needs of its members but opens registration to all members of the education community. *Middletown, Providence, and Woonsocket are not currently members of RILINK.
